My First Visit

Every patient is unique, so an evaluation may differ from one person to the next. However, what always remains the same across all patient visits is an experience that includes a warm welcome, a comfortable setting and a team eager to listen, learn and provide you with greatest care possible.

Dr. Peter M. Lotze and his team are located in Houston and Woodlands, Texas.

Texas Medical Center

Address: 7900 Fannin St.
Suite 4000, Houston, TX 77054

Phone: (713) 512-7810

When you arrive on the 4th floor, please proceed directly to the Women’s Pelvic Restorative Center check-in desk, which is located to the right of the elevators.

Virtual Visits Are Available For New & Current Patients

After you are checked in, you will be first greeted by our medical assistant, who will escort you to an exam room and get you comfortable. After vitals are checked and your medical history is confirmed, Dr. Lotze will greet you and then perform a comprehensive physical exam. Depending on your condition, an examination could include a pelvic exam (pap smear) to evaluate for pelvic support, nerve function and strength. Dr. Lotze may also take a post void residual measurement to see if your bladder is emptying appropriately.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Based on your initial evaluation, additional testing may be ordered to better understand what is happening and provide insight on ideal therapy options.

Additional testing may include:

Urine analysis and urine culture – to screen for infection

Cystoscopy – This is a procedure that uses a thin tube with a camera and light on the end (cystoscope). During a cystoscopy, this tube is inserted through your urethra and into your bladder so Dr. Lotze can visualize the inside of your bladder. Your urethra is the tube that carries urine out of your bladder.

Urodynamics – urodynamic testing or urodynamics is a study that assesses how the bladder and urethra are performing their job of storing and releasing urine. Urodynamic tests can help explain symptoms such as incontinence, frequent urination, and/or sudden or strong urges to urinate but nothing comes out.
