The Lotze Team - Texas Urogynecology
Dr. Lotze is the first fellowship-trained Urogynecologist to establish a practice here in Houston in 2002. He was also one of the first Urogynecologists in the country to become Board Certified in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery in 2013 when the Subspecialty Certification first became available. He specializes in the evaluation and treatment of female pelvic health and urinary incontinence. Areas of interest include prolapse (e.g. cystocele, rectocele, uterine/vaginal prolapse), complaints of urinary (stress) incontinence, irritating bladder symptoms (frequency, urgency), urinary retention, recurrent bladder infections, and painful bladder syndrome (also called Interstitial Cystitis). State-of-the-art technology including flexible cystoscopy and multichannel urodynamics are available for patient assessments. Treatment options that include both medical and surgical management are thoroughly reviewed with each patient. Surgical approaches focus on minimally invasive techniques – including laparoscopic and vaginal approaches. Emphasis is placed on the patient pursuing treatment options she feels are appropriate for her quality of life.
Dr. Lotze is the director of the Fellowship Program in Urogynecology at The Women’s Pelvic Restorative Center. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Ob/Gyn, Division of Urogynecology for the University of Texas Health & Science Center – Houston. He is the Director of the Anatomy Lab for the Department of OB/Gyn Resident Education at the University of Texas Health & Science Center – LBJ/Houston. He has published articles in the area of Urogynecology and remains actively engaged in research in pelvic health issues.
Dr. Lotze serves on several hospital boards at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. He is the Co-Chairman for the Texas Clinical Symposium on Female Pelvic Surgery – an annual 5-state meeting designed to improve physician knowledge in the field of pelvic reconstructive surgery. He serves as the Chairman of the Pelvic Floor Disorders Committee at Woman’s Hospital, which is dedicated to improving Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. He was instrumental in helping both Woman’s Hospital and the Women’s Pelvic Restorative Center achieve the nation’s first Center of Excellence Designation by the National Association for Continence for a private hospital and private practice group. He has served as a Board Examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has previously served as Chairman of PURE-HOPE – a national patient support group for pelvic pain. He has been recognized repeatedly as one of Houston’s Top Doctors by his peers.
